Embodiment 1

[0327] Embodiment 1. A furniture spring system comprising: a cover configured to provide a seating surface, the cover comprising: a frame including two opposing frame members; and a retention member connected to At least one of the two opposing frame members is associated; a slat extending between the two opposing frame members, the slat comprising: an elongated body having a first one end and a second end; and a snap provided at the first end or the second end; wherein the snap engages the retaining member to retain the slat to the a frame; and the catch is configured when a portion of the elongated body between the first end and the second end is responsive to intermittently pushing downward on the slat during use Sliding back and forth relative to the retaining member while resiliently deflecting downward and upward under force.

Embodiment 2

[0328] Embodiment 2. The furniture spring system of Embodiment 1, wherein the frame includes one or more stationary compartments formed into a top surface of each of the two opposing frame members.

Embodiment 3

[0329] Embodiment 3. The furniture spring system of any one of Embodiments 1-2, wherein the snap includes a hooked end, and the snap extends downwardly into the one or more securing compartments in one of the slats to hold the slats to the frame.

Abstract

Furniture spring systems are configured to provide support for different sized modular seating systems and / or modular bed systems. Slats extend between opposing frame or rail members to provide support to the seating or bed system. The slats have a catch disposed at a first or second end. In the seating and / or bed frame systems, the catch engages a retention member to retain the slat to the frame or rail. Adjustable bed frame systems employing such slats comprise modular bed frames and adjustable head boards and foot boards. Bed frames employing the slats and headboards / footboards thereof adjust in length or width in a variety of different manners. Adjustable bed frames adjust through the use of telescoping members, filler blocks and / or elongate end blocks that have different sizes from the standard uniform elongate support blocks employed in a bed frame.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to furniture and furniture systems. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to furniture spring systems and modular furniture support systems. Background technique [0002] Spring systems that provide cushioning to furniture items such as beds, sofas and chairs are often manufactured to be permanently affixed within the furniture item. For example, spring pads for mattresses include inner springs that cannot be removed by the user. Also, S-springs or other springs are often integrated into the base members of sofas and chairs to provide additional cushioning under the cushions placed thereon. [0003] The spring systems currently utilized in furniture are limited in several respects. For example, as mentioned above, the spring system cannot be removed or replaced by the user without significant deconstruction and expensive rebuilding of the furniture item. Often, when a spring in a spring washer breaks, it i...
