The transparent display substrate comprises a back plate and a plurality of pixels arranged on the back plate, wherein at least one pixel comprises a transparent area and a non-transparent area, at least one sub-pixel is arranged in the non-transparent area, the sub-pixel comprises a circuit driving assembly and a light-emitting assembly, and the non-transparent area comprises a lateral light emitting part so as to allow light emitted by the light-emitting assembly in the non-transparent area to be transmitted to the transparent area and then to be emitted out. According to the embodiments of the invention, the non-transparent area of the transparent display substrate comprises the lateral light emitting part; that is, the light emitted by the light emitting assembly in the non-transparent area can be transmitted to the transparent area approximately in a direction perpendicular to the thickness direction of the non-transparent area and then is emitted out. Therefore, the area of the light-emitting assembly is correspondingly reduced and the proportion of the transparent area is increased by directly reducing the proportion of the non-transparent area of each pixel, so the overall transparency and transmittance of the transparent display substrate can be effectively improved, and the use experience of the transparent display substrate in a bright environment is improved.
