Embodiment Construction

[0008] figure 1 is a schematic diagram of an autonomous product picking system 100 according to an exemplary embodiment. The autonomous product picking system 100 is used to control the movement of one or more automated guided vehicles (AGVs) 102 within a logistics facility 104, such as a warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing facility, retail facility, or the like. AGV 102 may be a mobile robot or an autonomous mobile vehicle. In various embodiments, multiple AGVs 102 are used within logistics facility 104 and controlled relative to each other by autonomous product picking system 100 . AGVs 102 are automatically controlled and used for product pickup and product drop-off within logistics facility 104 .

[0009] In the exemplary embodiment, AGV 102 is used to pick products 106 (eg, boxes, cases, individual parts, etc.) from one or more product pick stations 102 and deliver products 106 to one or more product drop stations 110 . In various embodiments, the product pic...

Abstract

An autonomous product pick-up system (100) includes product pick-up stations (108) at different locations within a facility, with a call station (300) having an activation button (304) at the user cross-section, the activation button being activated by an operator to send a call request when a product (106) needs to be picked up, and to send a completion signal when the product has been picked up. The automated guided vehicle (102) is movable within the facility between a product pick-up station and a product drop station (110). A system control module (120) directs the AGV within the facility and includes a system communication module (122) communicatively coupled to the AGV and the call station. When the activation button is activated, the system communication module receives a call request and a completion signal from the call station.

Description

technical field [0001] The subject matter herein relates generally to systems and methods for distributing products in a facility. Background technique [0002] Products move between stations within a factory or warehouse as they are manufactured, assembled and packaged. Efficient picking procedures are essential to ensure a smooth flow of product between stations. Inefficient picking procedures can lead to overstocking of machines or stations, leading to inefficient use of floor space and confusion. Inefficient picking procedures also result in wasted worker time, which increases overall operating costs. Inefficient picking procedures reduce productivity due to increased search times for products. Typically, product picking is a manual process, with operators driving vehicles to pick and deliver product between stations. [0003] There remains a need for an efficient system and method for distributing products in a facility. Contents of the invention [0004] In one ...
