Embodiment

[0504] The following examples illustrate the invention without limiting it.

[0505] Six two-part compositions (A through F) were prepared by mixing Part A with Part B.

[0506] Parts A and B were prepared in amounts of 100 g each.

[0507] The two parts were mixed at a Part A to Part B ratio of 0.1.

[0508] Part A of compositions A to F contained 25% triethylborane-1,3-diaminopropane complex and 75% alkylsulfonate plasticizer (Mesamoll sold by Lanxess). Part B of each of Compositions A to F is detailed in the table below and, depending on the composition, may include:

[0509] - polyurethanes with isocyanate terminations (17.7% to 18.3% isocyanate groups),

[0510] - polyurethane containing acrylic groups and isocyanate groups (NCO content 10.4%) (CN9303 sold by Sartomer),

[0511] - a polyurethane comprising 3% methacrylic groups and 15% isocyanate groups (referred to herein as polyurethane 1),

[0512] - a polyurethane comprising 7% methacrylic groups and 11% isocyana...

Abstract

The invention relates to a two-component composition comprising:-a moiety A comprising an organoborane complex having an amine; -a moiety B comprising a polymer having at least one acrylic group and at least one isocyanate group; the composition comprises at least one acrylic monomer or oligomer in part A and / or part B of the composition. The invention also relates to the use thereof as an adhesive for bonding two substrates together.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to two-component compositions and also to the use of said compositions. The invention also relates to articles made using the compositions and methods for making said articles. Background technique [0002] The surface properties of a substrate can be characterized by its surface energy. It is known that low surface energy substrates such as polyolefins (polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutene, polyisoprene, polybutadiene, polyfarnesene, polymyrcene, polydicyclopentadiene ethylene and its copolymers or mixtures thereof), polyvinyl fluoride (PVF), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) are difficult to bond to each other or to other types of substrates, and often require pre-bonding surface treatment. This is because they have few binding sites available on their free surface. These treatments, such as plasma or corona treatment, grinding treatment or treatment with chemical agents, consist in ch...
