Abstract

The invention provides a method for preventing and treating plant nematodes. According to the method, plant nematodes are fed with phytosterol, and the phytosterol does not contain cholesterol and sitosterol. The DHCR24-dependent nematode prevention and control method provided by the invention is completely different from known genetic engineering strategies of crop rotation, chemical nematicides or specific protease of nematodes, and has stronger target specificity and higher species broad spectrum. According to the invention, nematode control is realized by interfering steroid metabolism of nematodes or regulating steroid metabolism of plants, and specific control strategies can be developed for different nematode species or different crop strains. And a theoretical support and a technical platform are provided for realizing parasitic nematode prevention and control by regulating sterol metabolism in other species (such as livestock).
