Embodiment Construction

[0065] Various principles regarding ventilation sound transducers and transducer packages, as well as related methods and systems, are described below with reference to specific features. For example, some principles relate to air pressure vents for transducer elements, and other principles relate to air pressure vents for transducer packages. More specifically, but not exclusively, certain aspects relate to vents having a complex acoustic impedance to equalize the air pressure across the acoustic diaphragm. The vents described in the context of particular configurations are merely specific examples of contemplated vent arrangements chosen as convenient illustrative examples of the disclosed principles. Nonetheless, one or more of the disclosed principles may be incorporated in various other arrangements of acoustic transducers, modules, and systems to achieve any of various corresponding system characteristics.

Abstract

The present disclosure provides a ventilated acoustic transducer and related methods and systems. An electronic device has an acoustic transducer with an acoustic diaphragm. The vibrating membrane has a first main surface and a second main surface opposite to each other. The front cavity is disposed adjacent to the first major surface. The rear cavity is disposed adjacent to the second major surface. The elongate channel defines an air pressure vent and extends from a first end fluidly coupled with the anterior chamber to a second end fluidly coupled with the posterior chamber to fluidly couple the anterior chamber with the posterior chamber. The elongated channel may have a high aspect ratio (L / D), providing a large air quality for the vent. The elongated channel may be segmented to define a higher order filter. For example, the segmented channel may have repeating acoustic mass cells and acoustic compliance cells in cascade to provide additional degrees of freedom for tuning of the barometric vent.
