[0092] Fig. 2A is a longitudinal and vertical sectional view of a flow meter 100 according to a first example of the present invention. FIG. 2B is a longitudinal and horizontal cross-sectional view of the flow meter 100 . FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the flow meter 100 viewed from the direction of arrow A in FIG. 2A. FIG. 3 shows the flow path structure of the flow meter 100 when the flow rate is low. Figure 4 It is also a cross-sectional view of the flow meter 100 viewed from the direction of arrow A in FIG. 2A . Figure 4 The flow path structure of the flow meter 100 is shown when the flow rate is high.

[0093] The flow meter 100 measures the flow rate of fluid such as city gas or LPG using ultrasonic waves. The flowmeter 100 has a flow path wall 5 defining a flow path 1 through which a fluid to be measured passes. As shown in FIG. 2B , the flow path wall 5 defines a quadrangular flow path cross section comprising a pair of long sides 21 and a pair of short side...

[0136] 10 is a longitudinal and vertical cross-sectional view of a flow meter 200 according to a second example of the present invention, and FIG. 11 is a longitudinal and horizontal cross-sectional view of the flow meter 200 . Elements that are identical to those previously discussed with respect to flow meter 100 are designated by the same reference numerals and will not be described in detail here.

[0137] The flowmeter 200 includes a flow path wall 5 that defines the flow path 1 , and the fluid to be measured flows through the flow path 1 . The flow path 1 further includes: a measurement flow path 2 in which the flow rate of the fluid to be measured is measured; an inlet portion 3 provided on the upstream side of the measurement flow path 2 for introducing the fluid into the measurement flow path 2; and An outlet portion 4 provided on the downstream side of the measurement flow path 2 is used to discharge the fluid from the measurement flow path 2 . The measurement flow ...

Embodiment 3

[0177] In a third embodiment of the present invention, a flow meter will be described which includes an asymmetric flow establishing portion downstream with respect to the measurement flow path and upstream with respect to the measurement flow path. FIG. 22 is longitudinal and transverse sectional views of a flow meter 300 according to a third embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 23 is a longitudinal and transverse sectional view of the flow meter 300 . FIG. 24 is longitudinal and transverse cross-sectional views of the flow meter 300 for explaining flow velocity distribution when the flow velocity is high. Like elements previously discussed with reference to the flow meter 200 in FIGS. 10-12 are denoted by like reference numerals and therefore will not be described in detail.

[0178] The flow meter 300 includes an asymmetric flow establishing portion 141 downstream with respect to the measurement flow path 2 and upstream with respect to the measurement flow path 2 . L...

Abstract

A flow measuring device, comprising a flow passage for flowing fluid therethrough, a pair of transmitter and receiver for transmitting to and receiving from each other sound waves propagating across the flow passages, and a flow calculation means for calculating the flow of the fluid passing the flow passage based on the transmitted and received results of the sound waves by the pair of the transmitter and receiver, the flow passage further comprising an equal flow velocity area where the fluid flow generally at an equal flow velocity in an entire flow area ranging from a large flow to a small flow, wherein the transmitter and receiver transmits and receives the sound waves so that the sound waves are propagated through the equal flow velocity area.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to flow meters, and in particular to a flow meter that utilizes ultrasonic waves to measure fluid flow rates. Background technique [0002] In order to measure the flow rate of city gas LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), a flowmeter using ultrasonic waves is widely used. Japanese Patent Laid-Open Publication No. 9-189589 discloses a general flowmeter that uses ultrasonic waves to measure the flow rate. Figure 40 shows a longitudinal and vertical cross-sectional view of a conventional flow meter 900, Figure 41 This is a cross-sectional view of the general flowmeter 900 in the height direction. Figure 41 The flow path structure of the flow meter 900 is shown. Figure 42 is a cross-sectional view along the direction of arrow A in FIG. 40 . Figure 42 The flow path structure of the flow meter 900 is shown when the flow rate is high. The flowmeter 900 includes a flow channel wall 105 that defines a flow channel 101 through whi...
