Problems solved by technology

This connection is difficult and expensive due to the delicate metal hemming and expensive welding required
Furthermore, the housing cannot be disassembled and is therefore difficult to clean
Furthermore, this type of connection cannot be used for plastic motor housings since plastic cannot be hemmed and welded

Embodiment Construction

[0030] Figure 1A and 2 show an exhaust hood 10 comprising an exhaust hood body 12 into which is mounted a motor housing 14 according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention.

[0031] The exhaust hood 10 is designed to be mounted above the surface of a domestic cooking range, such as a four-burner gas range, to facilitate the removal of grease-laden steam and the like generated during cooking. The motor housing 14 has a top 16 , a bottom 18 and peripheral side surfaces 20 which define an enclosure 22 and are mountable within another enclosure 24 formed by the hood body 12 . The motor housing 14 can be made of metal or non-metal (such as plastic). The interior of housing 14 is coated with a non-stick material to facilitate grease removal.

[0032] The assembled housing 14 includes two chambers (in Figure 1A Only one can be seen in ), each chamber can be accessed through an inlet 26 in the underside of the housing 14 . The motor 28 is housed in each chamber of the ...

Abstract

A motor shell for exhaust hood has an upper part and a lower part combined together along each side edge. A coupled projecting part has a space therein and extends from side edge of a part of the motor shell. The side edge of another part of the motor shell is adapted to be inserted into the space in order to be kept in it by friction. The projecting part ensures the upper and lower parts can be accurately combined. Other constrain measure form is a reinforce assembly including a reinforce slice and several fasteners and is used for ensure the upper and lower parts can be properly combined. The motor shell can be made of metal or plastic.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an exhaust hood motor housing, and more particularly to an improved motor housing design. Background technique [0002] Exhaust hoods are used above cooktop surfaces to remove grease, common odors and dangerous gases produced during cooking. Typically, household exhaust hoods have a pair of motors mounted horizontally within a motor housing within the hood. Each motor drives a fan. This fan draws air from the cooking area below it and forces it through the motor housing towards the vent duct. [0003] The motor housing defines an enclosure and may be mounted within another enclosure formed by the exhaust hood body. The sidewalls of the motor housing are substantially vertical and have a shape generally defining a figure-eight pattern when viewed from above or below. The interior of the enclosure is divided into two substantially similar independent chambers. Each chamber has an air inlet and a vent hole. [0004] ...
