Problems solved by technology

[0006] Although many efforts have been made to create contact lenses that alter or improve iris color, none of the contact lenses focus on the particularly subtle alteration or intensification needed for dark-eyed individuals who wish to subtly intensify rather than drastically alter eye color

Embodiment Construction

[0019] Detailed description of the preferred embodiment

[0020] figure 1 A contact lens 10 according to the invention is represented. It has a non-opaque pupil portion 20 in the center of the lens. The pupil portion corresponds to that of a human eye such that when the contact lens is placed on the human eye, the pupil portion of the contact lens will be in contact with the pupil of the human eye. The contact lens 10 also has an annular iris portion 22 surrounding the pupil portion. The iris portion 22 corresponds to the iris portion of the human eye such that when the contact lens 10 is placed in contact with the human eye, the iris portion 22 will cover the iris portion of the human eye. For a hydrophilic lens, a peripheral portion (not shown) surrounds the iris portion 22 . A colored opaque intermittent pattern is positioned over the entire iris portion 22, such as figure 1 shown. The pattern leaves most of the iris portion within the voids of the pattern non-opaque....

Abstract

A colored contact lens (10) comprising a non-opaque pupil section (20) and an iris section (22) surrounding the pupil section. A colored, opaque, intermittent pattern (26) is deposited over the iris section (22) using opaque elements which are indiscernible to the ordinary viewer. The elements of the pattern are of a shade which provides a contact lens capable of making subtle changes or enhancements to the color of the iris of a dark-eyed person while imparting a very natural appearance.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a colored contact lens, and more particularly to a colored contact lens having an opaque colored portion corresponding to a portion of the iris of the human eye so that when the lens is placed in the eye of a dark-eyed person, the lens is capable of subtly changing the color of the human eye Alters, thus intensifying the eye color of dark-eyed persons. Background of the invention [0002] Over the years, numerous attempts have been made with varying degrees of success to improve or intensify the color of the human eye using colored contact lenses. Attempts to make opaque lenses with natural appearance are disclosed in US 3,536,386 (Spivak); 3,679,504 (Wichterle); 3,712,718 (Legrand); 4,460,523 (Neefe); 4,719,657 (Bawa); ; EP Patent Publication No. 0309154 (Allergan) and UK Patent Application 2202540A (IGEL). [0003] Knapp (US 4,582,402) has achieved commercial success with colored contact lenses which, in their prefe...
