Problems solved by technology

This structure is useful in situations where airflow is prevented from entering the tip, but not so useful when there is a lot of friction between the ground surface and the tip

Embodiment Construction

[0026] Figures 1a and 1b show a known straight vacuum cleaner 10. The vacuum cleaner 10 includes a main body 12, and the main body 12 includes a device 14 which is used to separate dust from the air flow when the air flows through the vacuum cleaner 10. In the vacuum cleaner 10 shown, the device 14 has a cyclonic characteristic, and it is obvious that the separation can also be achieved by other devices such as filter bags.

[0027] The main body 12 is supported on the vacuum cleaner 10 by a vertical stand 16 which includes a handle 18 whose position and arrangement enable the user of the vacuum cleaner 10 to operate the vacuum cleaner 10 to walk across the ground to be cleaned. The handle 18 is made in a detachable form so as to form a hose and stick assembly (not shown) so that the user of the vacuum cleaner 10 can perform floor cleaning. The device capable of realizing this function has nothing to do with the present invention.

Abstract

The invention provides a cleaner head ( 50;90;130;180 ) for a vacuum cleaner comprising a housing ( 52;92;132;182 ), a suction opening ( 60;100;142;184 ) in a face ( 58;96;136;186 ) of the housing which is intended to face a floor surface, a suction passage ( 110;146 ) for conducting dirt-laden air from the suction opening ( 60;100;142;184 ) through the cleaner head to an outlet thereof, a bleed air inlet ( 200 ) arranged in the housing and closed by a bleed valve ( 76;124;166;198 ) which is openable to allow air to be bled into the suction passage via the bleed air inlet. The cleaner head further comprises a force-transmitting member ( 68 122;152;194;232 ) connected to, or adapted to be connected to, a handle ( 18;48 ) by means of which the cleaner head is, in use, maneuvered across the floor surface, and the force-transmitting member ( 68;122;152;194;232 ) is connected to the housing by a connection allowing relative movement between the force-transmitting member and the housing.

Description

Technical field [0001] The invention relates to a suction head for a vacuum cleaner. The invention is suitable for household vertical or column vacuum cleaners. Background technique [0002] Manufacturers of vacuum cleaners usually provide potential customers with the "air flow wattage" of their products. This is the amount of dirty air and debris sucked through the suction port of the device. In upright vacuum cleaners, the suction port is usually provided in such a suction head which is directly mounted on the main body or motor housing of the vacuum cleaner. In column cleaners, the suction port is usually provided in another suction head, which is formed by a floor appliance connected to the main body by a hose and stick assembly. The disadvantage of the excessively high airflow wattage at the suction port is that the suction head may be sucked onto the ground to be cleaned, making it impossible or difficult for air to enter the suction port from the outside of the vacuum clea...
