Benefits of technology

This patent describes a new laser sighting system for guns that is easy to attach and detach. It also mentions that it can be used on a blank firing gun to reduce the risk of handling and aiming a real gun while using the laser system. Additionally, it can be easily transported across borders and on secured transportation vehicles without safety or security concerns. The technical effects of this patent are quick and easy attachment and detachment of a laser system to pre-existing guns, increased safety by using a blank firing gun, and versatility in transportation options.

Problems solved by technology

One of the main drawbacks of this system and method was relying on the user to visually guess when these elements were lined up appropriately and to hold that position when firing.

Embodiment Construction

[0025]As per FIGS. 1, 2, 3, and 4a, the first embodiment of the present invention incorporates a blank firing laser adapter (20) comprising a laser housing (21) formed in the shape of a cylinder having a hollowed-out bore formed through the length thereof and shaped to house a laser and its associated components therein. The laser housing bore includes a laser end section (30) having threads (31) and which is adapted to releasably hold laser (23) therein, a cap end section (32) having threads (33) and which is adapted to releasably hold laser housing cap (29) therein, and a center section (34) adapted to house an end section of laser (23), battery (25), and battery ground spring (22) therein. Blank firing laser adapter (20) further includes a laser (23) which includes threads adapted to releasably thread with threads (31) of the laser housing; laser housing cap (29) which includes a bore through a portion of a center section thereof, a screw fastener (26) on an end opposite the bore...

Abstract

A blank firing laser adapter for use with blank firing guns wherein a user can improve the accuracy of their firing capabilities by placing a known gun sighting laser into a laser adapter of the instant invention and then attaching said laser adapter to the barrel of a blank firing gun to thereby adapt said blank firing gun to point, fire, and record the trajectory of the resulting laser beam.

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION[0001]This invention relates to gun laser sighting equipment. In particular a blank firing laser adapter for use with blank firing guns.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION[0002]Gun sights have been used for hundreds of years to more accurately aim a weapon and fire a projectile. Early configurations would normally include a rear sight, which could simply be a plate or a post with a notch cut in it, and a front sight being a post or a bead, which when lined up with a target would offer an improved and more accurate method of aiming and firing. One of the main drawbacks of this system and method was relying on the user to visually guess when these elements were lined up appropriately and to hold that position when firing.[0003]Later advancements in the field of firearms included the incorporation of lasers, wherein a laser transmitter (a pointer) would be rigidly attached to a portion of a gun, the gun aimed at a target, and the laser transmitting a laser beam would visu...
