Method and arrangement for transferring information in a packet radio service with application-based choice of release mode

A method as described by which an application executing in an application layer of a multi-layer communication protocol forming part of a general packet radio service (GPRS) session can signal for the setup and release of Temporary Block Flow (TBF) which will not be released during application execution in silent (inactive) periods. When applications such as voice, telnet or web browsing have specific traffic type data that have inactive periods between active periods are to be carried over GPRS, the session consists of multiple active periods. Current TBF release procedures lead to multiple TBF setups during such sessions. With the method described, a special type of TBF can be set up with special procedures for release of this TBF which greatly minimizes the need for multiple TBF setups during a session containing data transfers with inactive periods between active data transmissions.

Method of managing a connection release, corresponding system and device

The present invention relates to a method usable for managing a connection release of an established connection between two or more parties via a communication network. When the reason for terminating a connection / session between at least two parties is caused by circumstances in the communication network, such as a loss of bearer, this is detected in a first network element. Then the first network element generates a connection terminating message to be used in the connection release procedure into which a new information element is introduced indicating the reason for the connection release, for example the loss of bearer. This reason may be indicated to a user as an optional and additional information. Furthermore, a corresponding system, device and / or terminal equipment are proposed.

Proxy SIP server interface for session initiation communications

The present invention supports a message protocol on a wireless communication network between the access gateway and the proxy session initiation server. Upon disruption of a communication session with a mobile station, an information packet indication disruption of the communication session is transmitted from the access gateway to the proxy session initiation protocol server. Upon receipt of the information packet, the proxy session initiation server initiates a resource release procedure freeing network resources supporting the communication session. The proxy session initiation server releases the resources and transmits an information packet to the serving session initiation server, which also initiates a release procedure. Answer and acknowledgement messages are also sent in response to the release request and / or the release of resources.

Authentication of termination messages in telecommunications system

An authentication mechanism renders a communications network impervious to unauthorized requests for interaction termination or cessation. In a release authentication mode of operation, the authentication mechanism protects against an unauthorized connection release message directed to a mobile node (30) of the network, e.g., a mobile station such as a user equipment unit, thereby thwarting an attempt to request an unauthorized connection release procedure concerning a connection involving the mobile node. In a detach authentication mode of operation, the authentication mechanism protects against an unauthorized detach message deceptively transmitted on behalf of a mobile node, thereby thwarting an attempt to request an unauthorized detach procedure for the mobile node. In its modes of operation, the authentication mechanism involves a first node (Ni) of the communications network at which authentication key is provided. The first node of the network uses the authentication key to derive an authentication indicia related to the authentication key. The first node (Ni) provides the authentication indicia to a second node (Nr) of the network. Subsequently, when an interaction termination operation is to occur (e.g., connection release or detach), the first node includes the authentication key in an interaction termination message transmitted over an air interface between the first node and the second node. As a condition for performing an interaction termination operation, the second node (Nr) confirms that the authentication key (which was included in the interaction termination message) is, in fact, related to the authentication indicia.

Broadcast secure printing system

A secure printing method includes providing a user terminal with a user interface. The user terminal and interface enable a user to select a secure printing mode for printing a document. In the secure printing mode, a secure print job stored in the user terminal is released through execution of a secure release procedure. In this way, the document can be printed at a selected one of a plurality of designated printers. When a user selects the secure printing mode, page description language data for the secure print job is generated in a format, or multiple formats, compatible with the designated printers. The page description language data is stored at the user terminal and a request is communicated to each of the designated printers. The request identifies the secure print job, but the job itself is not transmitted with the request. When the predefined secure release procedure is executed, the secure printjob is released to a selected printer.

Security Tag

A security tag is shown for location upon an article and removal from the article upon receiving authorisation. An internal processor (303) is arranged to transmit an output signal to an external processor indicating that a customer has identified an interest in an article. A physical switch (103) is operated to initiate a procedure for purchasing the article and releasing the tag. The tag transmits an output signal to initiate a release procedure and then receives an input signal to effect a release. The output signal is received by a mobile device and the mobile device interacts with an administration system directly to effect the purchase of the item prior to the administration system issuing the input signal. After receiving the input signal, actual release is only achieved after a further manual operation being performed by the user.
