A fishing jig system with an interchangeable jig head is disclosed for permitting a variety of jig heads with different configurations and functions to be used with a single jig hook and avoid having to remove the jig hook from a fishing line to reconfigure the fishing jig. The jig system includes a hook having a shank portion and an eye portion, with the shank portion and the eye portion meeting at a juncture. A modular mounting member is mounted on the hook at the juncture for removably receiving a fishing accessory. A fishing accessory, such as a jig head, is removably mounted on the modular mounting member, and the fishing accessory has a recess formed therein for slidably receiving at least a portion of the modular mounting member such that the accessory may be removed and replaced without removing the jig hook from the fishing line.

Embodiments of the invention generally relate to a lead head jig having a rattle. In one embodiment, a lead head jig includes a fish hook passing through a lead casting, and a rattle secured to the hook by the casting in cantilevered orientation.

A modular hook assembly that includes an adjustable shank mounted weight and retainers that accept artificial attractors, rattles, weights, lights, cyalume sticks or other accessories. A weight member having a longitudinal notch is cast over a slit sleeve that compressively grips the hook shank and permits adjustment of the weight along the shank. An expandable bait sleeve and method therefore capable of expanding in order to securely retain baits of various sizes and dimensioned to be coupled to various types of fishing lures and fishing hooks in order to improve a fisherman's chances of catching a fish by minimizing the chance that a fish will be able to “steal” the bait without being caught on the hook.

The present invention provides an improved weighted soft-bait fishing lure that includes a jighead assembly, comprising a weight having a generally elongate body with a first longitudinal axis, a hook and a bait keeper means, and a bait having an generally elongate body with a second longitudinal axis, wherein the bait is releasably connected to the jighead assembly at the bait keeper means such that the first longitudinal axis of the weight and the second longitudinal axis of the bait are generally in line with one another.

The present invention is a method for securing a soft bait on a fishing hook. The method includes using one or more stay pieces slidable along a hook shaft to prevent undesired movement of the soft bait on the hook shaft.

The fishing hook has a shank, a pointed hook portion formed at the lower end of the shank, and an eyelet formed at the upper end of the shank. The eyelet is formed by a generally D-shaped open loop that defines a cleft at the apex of the eyelet. The method of attaching a snell (a short leader line) to a fishing hook includes the steps of: forming a loop in a snell; passing the loop through the eyelet; rotating the fishing hook at least one full rotation to twist the loop; passing the loop over the open end of the eyelet; and pulling the snell to form a knot at the apex of the eyelet.

A weedless fishing lure that does not have an exposed hook until a sufficient tension is placed on the line. The lure comprises a body having an aperture therethrough and at least one channel. A fishing line extends through the aperture and is attached to the shank of a hook. The hook is placed into a channel changing the direction the line runs from that in the aperture so that the line in the channel runs in the opposite direction than that in the aperture. The tip of the hook may be placed in the aperture or in a separate channel. Using this configuration, the hook will be dislodged from the body if sufficient tension is placed on the line.

A fish hook formed of plastic having metal or other material embedded into, or applied to, or formed on the point thereof to increase the ability of the hook to penetrate the mouth of a fish. An apparatus and method for securing bait fish to a fishing hook. The apparatus is in the form of a kit and includes a bait hook attachment device and crimping pliers that provides a quick and convenient attachment point for securing to a fishing hook. The bait hook attachment device is formed from a preformed single piece of wire having two ends spaced apart and available for placement on each side of a bait. The attachment device is secured to the fish hook by crimping of wire by use of a matching crimping pliers. Upon securement of the hook assembly, an aperture is formed for use in attachment to a bait fish.

The invention provides a fishhook forming machine. The fishhook forming machine comprises a transmission mechanism, a feeding mechanism, a tail forming mechanism, a barb cutting mechanism, a hooking mechanism and a separation mechanism. The fishhook forming machine is characterized in that a length determination mechanism used for determining the length of a fishhook forming base stock and cutting off the unnecessary portion is additionally arranged between the feeding mechanism and the tail forming mechanism; the separation mechanism comprises an air gun matched with the hooking mechanism, and after a fishhook is formed at the hooking mechanism, the air gun jets air to enable the formed fishhook to be separated from the hooking mechanism under the action of air flow. Automatic cutting according to the required material length determined according to the specification of to-be-produced fishhooks can be realized by the length determination mechanism after feeding, and accordingly production efficiency is improved, uniformity in material length is guaranteed, and uniformity of the formed fishhooks is guaranteed as well. In addition, since the formed fishhooks are separated from the hooking mechanism under the action of air flow, damages of the formed fishhooks are avoided.

An object of the present invention is to provide a readily manufacturing a fishhook having the barb whose angles and shapes can be freely changed correspondingly to purposes of use. A method of manufacturing a fishhook according to the present invention is characterized by: applying machining process for providing a sharpened part at a tip of wire to constitute a fishhook; and applying pressing process for making into a plate-like shape a part in continuation to the sharpened tip part; and further applying simultaneously or sequentially in free order machining process for forming a stepped part at one lateral side of the plate-like part and machining process for cutting out a swollen portion produced at the other lateral side of the plate-like part, whereby forming a point part or a fishhook.

A fish hook includes a resilient bait guard. The bait guard is comprised of an elastic (e.g., injection molded plastic) or pseudo-elastic (e.g., nickel titanium alloy) material that returns to a determined shape after deflection during normal use. The bait guard is shaped as a basket or cradle that is secured to the shank of a fish hook and releasably engaged on the barbed hook portion at its other end. A slider helps to hold the bait firmly in place on the hook. The bait guard may be transparent, water color, bait color or phosphorescent.
