The method comprises the following steps of acquiring depositionresults of deposition simulation, wherein the deposition simulation comprises simulation based on a distribution state of terrigenous organic matters; sampling the deposition results to obtain a target sample; carrying out organic carbon content determination and particle size analysis on the target sample to obtain an analysis result which comprises particle size composition and terrigenous organic carbon content; establishing a prediction model of a terrigenous organic carbon distribution mode according to associated information among the particle size composition, the terrigenous organic carbon content and hydrodynamic conditions; and predicting terrigenous organic carbon contents corresponding to different material source distances according to the prediction model. By utilizing an embodiment of the invention, the terrigenous organic carbon content can be simply and quickly identified, so problems in prediction of terrigenous marine hydrocarbon source rock in deep water areas in the prior art are solved, and exploration efficiency is improved.
