Embodiment Construction

[0044] see figure 2In the switch cascade networking shown, the Layer 2 switches L2SwitchA and L2SwitchC are connected to the Layer 2 switch L2SwitchB through the cascade ports P1 and P4, and the switch L2SwitchB is connected to the Layer 3 switch L3Switch through the upstream ports P2 and P3. This networking method is often used in the networking of some corridor switches. It can be clearly seen that the three Layer 2 switches only use two port resources of L3. This can be extended to the entire community network, which can reduce the number of Layer 3 switches. It also reduces the high-end equipment (including the convergence layer equipment and network management equipment) of the cell, thereby reducing the cost of cell networking.

[0045] The chips in the switch L2SwitchB only support some VLAN IDs. If the VLAN ID in the VLAN tag carried in the data frame received by L2SwitchB is not supported by the switch (for the local machine, it is an unknown VLAN data frame), but s...

Abstract

The present invention discloses one method of expanding number of virtual LAN in exchange equipment. The method includes: for the exchange equipment to obtain virtual LAN identification (VLAN ID) from the port received data frame; for the exchange equipment to judge whether to support the VLAN ID; if so, to transmit the said data frame in the VLAN ID specified virtual LAN; or else, to penetrate the said data frame.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a virtual local area network technology in a communication network, in particular to a method for expanding the number of virtual local area networks. Background technique [0002] The 802.1Q standard was developed by IEEE 802. This standard defines the operation of virtual local area network (VLAN) bridges, allowing the definition, operation, and management of VLAN topologies in bridged local area networks. In order to use the 802.1Q medium access control (MAC) service to realize the compatible interconnection of information technology equipment, different medium access methods are adopted in the local area network of the IEEE 802 standard. This standard specifies a uniform method for operating MAC bridges that support VLAN structures. [0003] A virtual local area network is an end station group that logically divides a group of users and servers located on different physical network segments. It is basically the same as a ...
