Abstract

A dual piston / poppet valve in a fuel dispenser that works with a secondary valve to help eliminate pusher flow meter errors. When the secondary valve is partially open, a second fuel path is opened in the dual piston / poppet valve. A sensor detects the opening of said second fuel path and reports its opening to the control system. The secondary valve is fully open, simultaneously opening the main fuel path. During transaction completion, the secondary valve is partially closed, resulting in closure of the main fuel path. When the secondary valve is fully closed, the second fuel path is closed. The sensor detects closure of the second fuel path and reports the closure to the control system. Based on the output of the sensor, the control system accepts or rejects the delivery signal from the flow meter.
