Embodiment Construction

[0257] Exemplary embodiments of the invention are described with respect to printhead assemblies and printhead modules incorporated therein, as well as methods of assembling the printhead modules. A printed circuit board for the printhead assembly is also described.

[0258] review

[0259] figure 1 and 2 The printhead assembly 10 shown in is intended for use as a pagewide printhead in a printing system. That is, the printhead extends across the width or along the length of a page of a print medium, such as paper, to print. During printing, the printhead assembly ejects ink onto the print medium as it passes, thereby forming printed information thereon, wherein the printhead assembly remains stationary as the print medium passes. That is, the printhead assembly does not sweep across the page in the manner of a conventional printhead.

[0260] as from figure 1 and 2 As can be seen in , the printhead assembly 10 includes a housing 20 and a printhead module 30 . Housing 2...

Abstract

A printhead module (30) for a printhead assembly is provided as a unitary arrangement of a support member (40), at least two printhead integrated circuits (50), each of which has nozzles (42) formed therein for delivering printing fluid onto the surface of print media, at least one fluid distribution member mounting the at least two printhead integrated circuits to the support member, and an electrical connector for connecting electrical signals to the at least two printhead integrated circuits. The support member has at least one longitudinally extending channel (41) for carrying the printing fluid for the printhead integrated circuits, with a plurality of apertures extending through a wall thereof arranged so as to direct the printing fluid from the at least one channel to associated nozzles in the printhead integrated circuits. A printhead assembly is also provided comprising the printhead module and a casing to which the printhead module is removably mounted.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a printhead unit for use in a printing system. More particularly, the present invention relates to a printhead assembly to which a manual printing unit can be mounted and detached therefrom, a printhead module of the printhead assembly, and such components and various components (including printing circuit board) method. Background technique [0002] Pagewidth printheads for use in printing systems are well known. Such printheads typically span the width of the print medium on which information is to be printed, and the dimensions and configuration of the printheads vary depending on the application of the printing system and the dimensions of the print medium. In this regard, due to the large variability in the required dimensions of such printheads, it is difficult to manufacture such printheads in a manner that caters to this variability. [0003] Accordingly, applicants have proposed the use of pagewide printheads consis...
