Abstract

The image display apparatus of the invention applies a tone-based voltage, which corresponds to a tone value of image data at each of multiple pixels on a VA liquid crystal display, to the pixel for display of an image represented by the image data on the VA liquid crystal display. The tone-based voltage of each pixel is restricted, based on a transmittance-voltage characteristic of the pixel that differs by the position of the pixel on the plane of the VA liquid crystal display.
