Abstract

The invention relates to a virtual private network implementation method on a digital cable television network, which belongs to the digital television art field. The method is to establish a virtual private network with an internet, a DVB broadband IP router server, a DVB broadband IP gateway server, a QAM modulator, a digital cable television network, a digital television receiving card and a computer terminal jointly. The computer terminal sets up an IP tunnel with the DVB broadband IP router server, and transmits an upstream IP message to a local area network at a front end of the digital cable television network through the IP tunnel. The downstream IP message is broadcasted by the DVB broadband IP gateway server and the QAM modulator through a digital cable television network. The digital television receiving card receives MPEG-2 transmission stream,which is encapsulated with the downstream IP message, and transmits to the computer terminal.
