The invention discloses a method for realizing the increase of the call completing rate through a call progress tone. The method which is applicable to a 3G network system comprises the following steps that: A. after receiving a call of a calling terminal and establishing a message, a mobile soft switch server, to which the calling terminal belongs, sets a timer and starts to time; B. in the subsequent call flow, if the timer is overtime, the mobile soft switch server, to which the calling terminal belongs, plays a progress tone to the calling terminal; C. after a called terminal rings, the mobile soft switch server, to which the calling terminal belongs, stops playing the progress tone. In the invention, the timer is set after the call network receives the call on the terminal and establishes the message, and the play of the progress tone to the call terminal is controlled by the timer so as to inform a user that the network processes the call and not to hold the line, thereby increasing the call completing rate of the system.
