Abstract

The invention relates to an eight-gear transmitter, including a plurality of elements used in a power train, for providing at least eight forward gears and at least one reverse gear. The transmitter comprises four planetary gear sets, five torque transmitting devices, three fixed interconnection elements and a grounding element. The power train comprises an engine and a torque-converter continuously connected with at least a planet gear element, and an output element continuously connected with another planet gear element. Five torque transmitting devices provide connection between the gear elements and the fixed elements, and are operated in the combination of two torque-converters, to provide at least eight forward gears and at least one reverse gear.
