Embodiment Construction

[0014] Embodiments are described with reference to certain linear electric motor (LEM) pump assemblies, particularly linear electric motor (LEM) pump assemblies used in oilfield cementing operations. However, other oilfield operations may also use the embodiments of the LEM pump assembly described herein. For example, the LEM pump assemblies described herein may be used in fracturing, drilling, dosing, and other oilfield fluid transfer operations. Regardless, the embodiments described herein include the use of LEMs to drive oilfield pump assemblies, as opposed to crankshaft or hydraulically driven technology, thereby potentially reducing equipment part count and maintenance costs, and increases the precision and control of fluid delivery.

[0015] now refer to figure 1 and figure 2 , respectively show a crankshaft pump assembly 100 and a linear motor (LEM) pump assembly 200 in the prior art, the crankshaft pump assembly 100 uses a variety of equipment for operation, and th...

Abstract

An oilfield pump employing a linear electric motor. The linear electric motor replaces a conventional crankshaft or hydraulic techniques for driving a plunger of the pump. This may reduce the number of equipment parts and amount of maintenance expenses associated with the operation of oilfield pumps. Furthermore, the use of a linear electric motor may also increase the precision and control over the fluid delivery provided by the pump assembly.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments described herein relate to oilfield pumps for delivering various oilfield fluids to wells in an oilfield. In particular, embodiments of oilfield pumps employing linear electric motors (LEMs) are described herein. The advent of LEMs instead of crankshafts or hydraulic drive technology can reduce the number of equipment components, thereby reducing maintenance costs for pump assemblies used in the oilfield. The presence of LEMs can also improve the precision and control of fluid delivery provided by the pump assembly. Background technique [0002] Drilling, completing and operating oil and gas wells use a variety of large equipment. Thus, well operations may naturally be expensive in terms of major equipment costs and equipment maintenance. Also, in many cases, conventional large devices can provide very imprecise output, no matter what the cost. [0003] As an example of large oil field equipment, oil fields often employ many crankshaft ...
