In the method, the virtual router chooses a main route device as a self-distributing virtual MAC address, distributes different virtual MAC addresses to other routing devices after receiving virtual MAC distributing request messages that are sent by other routing devices and sends the addresses to other routing devices by address responding messages. After address analyzing requests from the clients are received, the virtual MAC addresses which are distributed to the routing devices of the virtual router are carried in the address analyzing response to be reverted to the clients.
