Problems solved by technology

However, the shrouded portion of the blades is difficult to clean, and in a home or office environment the movement of the blades through the air can be noisy and disruptive
[0006] A disadvantage of some prior art devices is that the airflow produced by the fan does not appear uniform to the user due to variations, unevenness or "wavyness" of the airflow across the surfaces of the blades or the outer surface of the fan Airflow can feel like a series of pulses or gusts
Another disadvantage is that the cooling effect of the fan decreases with distance from the user, which means that the fan must be placed close to the user to benefit from it

Embodiment Construction

[0033] figure 1 An example of the fan arrangement 100 is shown viewed from the front of the device. The fan arrangement 100 comprises an annular nozzle 1 defining a central opening 2 . Refer again figure 2 and image 3 , the nozzle 1 includes an internal passage 10 , an exhaust port 12 and a Coanda surface 14 near the exhaust port 12 . The Coanda surface 14 is arranged such that the primary airflow exiting the exhaust port 12 and directed over the Coanda surface 14 is amplified by the Coanda effect. The nozzle 1 is connected to and supported by a base 16 having a housing 18 . The base 16 includes a plurality of selection buttons 20 accessible through the housing 18 and through which the fan unit 100 is operable.

[0034] image 3 , Figure 4 and Figure 5 Further specific details of the fan assembly 100 are given. Inside the base 16 is located a motor 22 for generating an air flow through the nozzle 1 . The base 16 also includes an air inlet 24 formed within the hou...

Abstract

A fan assembly for creating an air current includes a bladeless fan assembly including a nozzle and a device for creating an air flow through the nozzle. The nozzle includes an interior passage and a mouth receiving the air flow from the interior passage. A Coanda surface located adjacent the mouth and over which the mouth is arranged to direct the air flow. The fan provides an arrangement producing an air current and a flow of cooling air created without requiring a bladed fan, that is, the air flow is created by a bladeless fan.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a fan device. In particular, but not exclusively, the present invention relates to an indoor fan, such as a desk fan, for generating air circulation and air flow in a room, office or other indoor environment. Background technique [0002] Many types of indoor fans are known. Typically, a conventional fan includes a single set of blades or wings mounted for rotation about an axis, and a drive mounted about the axis to rotate the entire set of blades. Indoor fans are available in a variety of sizes and diameters, for example ceiling fans can be at least 1 m in diameter and are typically mounted suspended from the ceiling and positioned to provide downward airflow and cool the room. [0003] On the other hand, desktop fans are generally about 30cm in diameter, and are usually free to place and portable. In a standard desk fan configuration, a single set of blades is positioned proximate to the user, and rotation of the fan blad...
