Problems solved by technology

Specifically, the application of conventional configurations of control circuits faces the following limitations: the gray scale (PWM between on and off states) of conventional systems is limited by LSB (i.e., least significant bit, or minimum pulse width)
However, these inventions do not address or provide a direct solution for those of ordinary skill in the art to overcome the above-mentioned limitations and difficulties.

Embodiment Construction

[0054] figure 2 is a functional block diagram for showing an exemplary configuration of the display system of the present invention. image 3 A cross-sectional view of a pixel unit 211 constituting a spatial light modulation component according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention is depicted.

[0055] refer to figure 2 , the display system 100 includes a control system 300 . The display system 100 also includes a micromirror array having a plurality of micromirrors. The display control system 300 controls the micromirror 212 in the first state and the second state. The display system also implements a switching control function for switching from the first state to the second state or from the second state to the first state, wherein the switching control function is such as Figure 4A with 4B , Figure 5A with 5B as well as Figure 6A with 6B As shown, the state of the mirror is switched at a predetermined point within a frame period. Also, in a prefe...

Abstract

This invention provides a display control system that includes: a) a micromirror array comprising a plurality of mirrors; b) a first control function for controlling the mirrors in a first state; c) a second control function for controlling the mirrors in a second state; d) and a switchover controller for switching from the first state to second state, or from the second state to first state, wherein the switchover controller switches the state of at least two mirrors simultaneously at a same predetermined point within a frame period.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to image display systems and, more particularly, to display systems having specially arranged and controlled spatial light modulators or light sources. Background technique [0002] Even though significant advances have been made in recent years in realizing electromechanical micromirror devices as spatial light modulators, there are still limitations and difficulties in adopting them to provide high-quality image displays. In particular, as display systems in the HDTV format become popular, the size of images on the screen becomes larger, such as a diagonal size of 100" or more. When the specification is a 100"-size image including 1920×1080 pixels , the pixel size on the screen is larger than 1mm. Similarly, in 50"-size images and XGA pixels, the pixel size is 1mm. The observer can see every pixel on the screen. For this, the display system requires a large number of gray levels greater than 10 or 16 bits, In order to ...
