Abstract

The method involves winding thread (18) with single side shortened lifting stroke for producing a marking layer at one of a set of front surfaces during cross winding of the thread. The thread is guided in and out within a lifting stroke before storing at a rotatably driven thread spool (1). The thread is stored at the circumference of the spool during marking of winding at end diameters, and the marking layer is adjusted at one of the front surfaces of the thread spool. The time for producing the marking layer is determined using winding time or diameter of the thread spool. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for winding a thread spool (2) a thread spool comprises a thread rolled in a cross winding.
