Problems solved by technology

When data is transmitted through the network, the failure will cause data loss, thereby degrading the performance of the system
Even if the failure does not result in data loss, the failure can cause unacceptable degradation in network performance
Specifically, some failures may make it appear that a node is functioning normally, but in fact said node has only a fraction of its normal capacity

Embodiment Construction

[0018] It should be understood at the outset that although an exemplary implementation of one embodiment of the present disclosure is described below, the system may be implemented using any number of currently known or existing technologies. The present disclosure should not be limited to the exemplary implementations, drawings, and techniques described below, including the exemplary designs and implementations illustrated and described herein, but rather by the scope and scope of the claims Modifications may be made within the full range of equivalents.

[0019] A network configuration is disclosed herein that allows the network to identify, report and respond to faults that occur within the communications network. Specifically, the network includes a plurality of working paths, protection paths and a method for identifying faults within the working paths and protection paths. The failure may include a partial failure in which the connection is maintained but with reduced c...

Abstract

A communications network comprising components configured to implement a method comprising analyzing a path between a first end point and a second end point, and identifying a partial fault along the path is disclosed. Also disclosed is a method for communicating information within a network, the method comprising: defining a path traversing a plurality of nodes, receiving a fault report from an intermediate node, determining whether the fault report affects the path, and responsive to the determination that the fault report affects the path, transmitting the fault report to an upstream or downstream node in the path.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to communication technology, and more particularly to communication networks, methods and communication systems for communicating information within the network. Background technique [0002] Modern communication and data networks consist of nodes that transfer data over the network. The nodes include routers and / or switches that route individual data packets through the network. When transferring large amounts of data from a common source A to a common destination Z, a data path from A to Z can be established and all data to be transferred from A to Z can be mapped to this path. By doing so, the nodes in the path no longer need to determine the path to transmit the data packet. Instead, the nodes only need to transmit data to the next node in the path, which significantly improves the efficiency of data transmission. Thus, node-to-node data transmission is completed through the network until the data reaches the destin...
