[0203] Figure 30 One embodiment of a monocular optical holographic data device or system 3002 is schematically shown in a configuration for storing or recording (writing) holographic data. Apparatus or system 3002 includes a laser 3004 that provides a coherent beam 3006 that is directed by a mirror 3008 through a shutter 3010 to another mirror 3012 . Mirror 3012 directs beam 3006 to main beam expander assembly 3014, which includes pinhole 3016 and lens 3018 to spatially filter beam 3006, and lens assembly 3020 to expand and collimate filtered beam 3006 to a fixed diameter. Expanded filtered beam 3006 passes through half wave plate (HWP) 3022 and enters polarizing beam splitter (PBS) 3024 . PBS 3024 splits beam 3006 into reference beam 3026 having reference beam path 3028 , and data illumination beam 3030 having data beam path 3032 . Reference beam 3026 is directed by mirror 3034 through iris 3036 to another mirror 3038 . Mirror 3038 directs reference beam 3026 to another m...
