Embodiment Construction

[0018] At least the following matters will become clear from the description of this specification and the drawings.

[0019] A discharge inspection device comprising: a head which discharges liquid from a nozzle, which is grounded; a detection electrode which is opposed to the nozzle with a predetermined interval, and which is encapsulated by an insulating member; a power supply for making the detection electrode a predetermined potential; a determination unit for detecting a change in the potential of the detection electrode caused by discharge of liquid from the nozzle, and judging that there is no potential in the head based on the change in potential of the detection electrode. a nozzle that normally discharges the liquid; and a cap portion that is in contact with the head when not printing, and houses the detection electrode.

[0020] Thereby, even when the detection electrode is made to have a high potential, it is possible to suppress the leakage of current from the de...

Abstract

The invention provides a printing apparatus and a discharge inspecting apparatus, capable of suppressing leakage of current from a detection electrode in the discharge inspecting apparatus. The printing apparatus includes: a head which discharges liquid from a nozzle and is grounded; a detection electrode which is opposed to the nozzle at a predetermined interval and is sealed by an insulating member; a power source which ensures the detection electrode is at a predetermined potential; a determining unit which detects a change in potential of the detecting electrode that is caused by the discharge of the liquid from the nozzle and determines a nozzle that does not normally discharge the liquid to the head on the basis of the change in potential of the detection electrode; and a cap portion which abuts the head during non-printing and accommodates the detection electrode.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a discharge inspection device and a printing device. Background technique [0002] In a printer that discharges ink to form an image, ink may not be discharged from the nozzles, and a desired image may not be obtained. In order to detect such a malfunction, a sensor for determining whether ink is properly discharged from a nozzle has been developed. Patent Document 1 discloses a sensor in which a printed circuit board and an ink droplet sensing element are integrated. [0003] [Patent Document 1] JP-A-2003-53949 [0004] As a means of determining whether or not ink is discharged from the nozzle, there is a method of applying a potential difference between the nozzle and the detection electrode and detecting a change in the potential of the detection electrode caused by liquid discharge from the nozzle. In such detection means, it is necessary to provide a potential difference between the nozzle and the detection elec...
