The power regulator periodically generates switching signals used to regulate the current flowing through the load inductor. As an example, the switching signal controls a power switch, which activation diverts current through the inductor from the output load to ground, thus regulating the output voltage. The switching signal is provided to an overvoltage protection circuit configured to sample / sample the switching signal voltage. Specifically, the overvoltage protection circuit generates a pulse signal based on a rising edge of the switch signal.
