Embodiment Construction

[0032] In the embodiments of the method according to the invention described below, a suitable topology of the automation system is generated in the form of several hierarchical levels on the basis of information which is indirectly or directly assigned to the individual devices of the automation system. In addition, during operation of the automation system, information on the individual devices is collected in corresponding monitoring units, which are used to carry out the method according to the invention. In particular, the information is collected by the monitoring unit using a network protocol, preferably the SNMP protocol known from the prior art. Information about the individual devices is also exchanged between adjacent devices based on the LLDP protocol known from the prior art. Information about the device itself and its neighbors is stored locally in each device in a so-called MIB (MIB=Management Information Base). Within the scope of the embodiments described her...

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for analyzing an automation system with the help of a computer. The automation system has multiple mutually networking device (FD, CD, P, S, D) distributed. The method involves detecting device types and their connections with each other. A network topology is generated for representing the integration of the devices. The topology of the automation system is displayed on user interface (UI), where a section is provided on the user interface for each hierarchical level (FE,CE,LE). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for computer-aided analysis of automation system; and (2) a computer program product with a machine readable medium program code.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method for computer-aided analysis of an automation system, as well as a corresponding system and a computer program product. Background technique [0002] It is known from the prior art to automatically detect the topology of a plurality of interconnected devices and display it graphically. In this case, information is read from the devices on the basis of a suitable protocol, for example SNMP (SNMP=Simple Network Management Protocol), and the individual network connections between the devices are thus detected. Based on this, the networking of the devices in the form of network topologies with corresponding structures, such as star, ring and tree structures, can then be displayed in a suitable manner on a display device. [0003] In the context of the operation of the automation system, not only the interconnection of the devices plays an important role, but also the function of the individual devices in the context of the...
