Abstract

The invention discloses a method and a system for determining a channel quality indicator (CQI). The method comprises the following steps that a transmitting terminal transmits a pilot signal to a receiving terminal; and after carrying on channel measurement of a sub-band which bears the pilot signal, the receiving terminal feeds back the acquired CQI of the sub-band to the transmitting terminal. The system comprises the transmitting terminal which is used for transmitting the pilot signal to the receiving terminal, and the receiving terminal which is used for feeding back the acquired CQI of the sub-band to the transmitting terminal after carrying on channel measurement of the sub-band which bears the pilot signal. By adopting the method and system disclosed by the invention, the transmitting terminal can be enabled to acquire the CQI on different sub-bands, and a basis for subsequent selection of proper modulation and coding modes on different sub-bands is supplied, so that gains of adaptive coding and modulation are acquired.
