Abstract

A welding helmet having a filter arrangement is disclosed. The welding helmet is provided with a main filter and at least one auxiliary filter separate from and positioned next to the main filter. The at least one auxiliary filter comprises an electro-optic element adapted to attenuate the transmission of optical radiation incident on the auxiliary filter.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a welding helmet with a filter arrangement, and in particular a filter arrangement comprising a main filter and at least one auxiliary filter. Background technique [0002] Welding helmets equipped with optical filters to protect the welder from the optical radiation generated during the welding operation are well known. A typical welding mask filter is a device placed in an aperture in the front of the welding mask through which the welder can view the welding operation without exposing their eyes to harmful amounts of optical radiation. [0003] The visible segment of the electromagnetic spectrum, the range of light radiation that can be detected by the human eye, is generally considered in the welding industry to be the wavelength range of approximately 380 nanometers to 780 nanometers (nm). The additional wavelength range of optical radiation having wavelengths smaller than the visible range is commonly referred to as ultr...
