Embodiment Construction

[0044] Before reference is made to the drawings, in which example embodiments are shown in detail, it is to be understood that the disclosure is not to be limited to the details or methodology set forth in the description or illustrated in the drawings. It is also to be understood that the terminology is used for descriptive purposes only and should not be considered limiting. It is intended that the same or like reference numerals be used throughout the views to refer to the same or like parts.

[0045] Referring generally to the drawings, exemplary embodiments may relate to a faucet including a sensor disposed within a faucet spout. This sensor together with the electronic valve will allow the user to stop the flow of water from the faucet spout by engaging the sensor's detection field. When the sensor's detection field is engaged a second time, flow will resume. This configuration provides the user with a convenient and easy-to-use non-contact method of controlling the fl...

Abstract

The present invention provides a system for manually overriding a solenoid operated valve in the event of a power failure. The system includes solenoid operated valves and lifters. A solenoid-operated valve includes: a valve body including a sealing surface, a fluid inlet, and a fluid outlet; a sealing element that selectively separates the fluid inlet from the fluid outlet; and a solenoid configured to selectively Permanently couple and separate sealing elements and sealing surfaces. The lifter is threadedly coupled to the solenoid operated valve. Rotation of the lifter relative to the valve body in a first direction causes the lifter to separate the sealing element from the sealing surface.
