[0021] Bone-anchored hearing device (BAHD) is a kind of hearing prosthesis device based on bone conduction, one or more parts of which are implanted by surgical method. BAHD uses the bones of the skull as a path for sound to travel to the patient's inner ear. For patients with conductive hearing impairment, BAHD bypasses the external auditory canal and middle ear and stimulates the still functioning cochlea through an implanted metal column. For patients with unilateral hearing impairment, BAHD uses the skull to conduct sound from the deaf ear to the side of the cochlea with normal function.
