Embodiment Construction

[0052] figure 1 A system 10 for routing synchronization messages in a packet communication network 1 is shown. The packet communication network 1 is eg an IP network, or an MPLS Label Switching network, MPLS stands for "Multiprotocol Label Switching", or Ethernet. It includes multiple routing devices, some of which are 11-17 in figure 1 As shown in , they are designed to route packets in a network. Such routing devices 11-17 comprise input / output ports designed to receive and transmit packets. It will be recalled that at this juncture a packet to be routed in a packet communication network includes a destination address notably in a header. Routing devices 12, 14, 16 include image 3 The global routing table 108 shown in , which associates output ports with destination addresses. Thus, upon receiving a packet, the routing device 12, 14, 16 checks whether the received packet is intended for it, and if this is not the case, it uses the destination address of the received pa...

Abstract

The invention concerns a method of routing synchronisation messages in a packet communication network, in which a packet is routed by means of a routing table, referred to as a global routing table. A piece of equipment (12, 14, 16) in the network implements the following steps: detecting a packet carrying a synchronisation message in a packet stream; determining an output port; emitting a packet carrying the synchronisation message at the determined output port, the synchronisation message being modified using a piece of information representing a time of transit in said piece of equipment. A synchronisation routing table, in which at least one association between an input port and at least one output port is memorised, is configured in the piece of equipment. When the packet carrying the received synchronisation message indicates that a routing needs to be carried out by means of the synchronisation table, the output port for this packet is determined by the equipment according to an input port on which the packet is received and by reading the synchronisation routing table.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the field of communication networks and, more particularly, to the field of synchronization in these networks. Background technique [0002] The development of mobile networks has created new demands on the synchronization to be provided by base stations: in addition to intra-frequency synchronization, base stations may require in-phase and / or simultaneous synchronization, with a very limited precision of the order of one microsecond. [0003] When transferring this type of synchronization over a network, multiple devices in a packet communication network or transport network need to have hardware functions dedicated to the transmission of a synchronization message, which allows avoiding variable waits for synchronization messages mainly caused by the device's buffer memory Transitional time-varying phenomena created by time. [0004] Most of the proposed schemes use a time set protocol, such as the PTP protocol, which...
