In order to cause effective function when a system adopting a conventional settlement card is shifted to a system adopting a settlement card of IC card type and to enable a significant contribution to proliferation of the settlement card of IC card type, when a person who has input authentication data is authenticated as a user of a card by an authentication section, transaction data read by a magnetic stripe reader and transaction authentication data read by a memory reader are transmitted to a host server from transaction terminal equipment. The host server conducts a transaction through use of the transaction data and the transaction authentication data, both being output from the transaction terminal equipment. When the transaction is conducted, a memory writer writes data into memory of the card or rewrites data recorded in the memory.

Method of interfacing with data storage card

A card reader / writer which interfaces between a host application program and a data storage card. The card reader / writer reads from and writes to the application program with high level language of the commands. The card reader / writer translates the high level language commands of the host program to corresponding sequences of low level commands for reading and writing to the data storage card. The card reader / writer stores a plarality of sets of such low level commands, and is able to establish the card type for any card interfaced with the card reader / writer, and to use the appropriate command set for the established card type. The card reader / writer also translates low level commands from the card to high level commands for the host application program. The card reader / writer can be loaded with low level command sets for additional card types as required.

Information card with multiple storage media and a device and method for reading and writing information in said card

The present invention relates to an information card with multiple storage media. Combining reading and writing characteristics of magnetic strip storages, ICs, PFIDs and etc. with large storage capacity of a compound printing 2D barcode, the invention uses a base card with a magnetic strip storage medium or a base card beset with an IC read-write chip, and a RF read-write chip. On said base card contains a first 2D barcode which has different reflectivities to lights in the first spectrum area between bars and spaces, there is a designated relation between data stored in the magnetic strip or the IC chip, RF chip and data stored in the first 2D barcode. The invention discloses a read-write device of the information card comprising a Contact Image Sensor (CIS), a magnetic head or an IC chip reader, an RF chip reader. The invention further discloses a method for reading and writing data in said information card.

Apparatus and methods for saving power in RFID readers

A portable, multi-mode RFID reader is capable of operating in a plurality of interrogation modes. The reader includes a processor configured to select either a subset of the plurality of interrogation modes according to which the RFID reader will operate when interrogating a set of one or more RFID tags, a sequence in which at least some of the plurality of interrogation modes are employed when the RFID reader interrogates the set of RFID tags, or both. Configuration of the processor as described is such that the RFID reader may consume less power, interrogates the set of one or more RFID tags more quickly, or both consume less power and interrogate the set of one or more RFID tags more quickly.

Portable dual-mode contact and contactless communication device

A communication device comprising a portable casing having space adapted to receive at least one digital and communication integrated circuit (IC) or smart card therein; the casing also containing a contact smart card connector that is adapted to electrically couple to the smart card.
