Abstract

The invention provides a device and method used for management of IP addresses. The device and method used for management of the IP addresses are used for managing the IP addresses used for network devices in the network based on the IP protocol. According to the method and device, routing information of one or more network devices is collected; IP address entries in the collected routing information are extracted; aiming at all the given IP address entries, matched IP address entries in the extracted IP address entries are searched for; based on the searching result, the use state of the IP address of each given IP address entry in the network is determined. According to the method and device, the configuration information of one or more network devices is also collected; one or more IP address entries in the collected configuration information are extracted; aiming at all the extracted IP address entries, currently recorded matched IP address entries in the IP address entries in the IP address management device are searched for; based on the searching result, information records corresponding to the extracted IP address entries in the IP address management device are updated.
