Abstract

The present invention relates to a system for managing transportation resources and transporting freight containers. The system includes a transportation resource, a central location with at least one access point, and a controller. The central location contains container storage yards. The container storage yard is adapted to house at least one freight container therein. Each freight container housed or stored in the yard is assigned a first unique identifier. The central location also contains trailer parking. The trailer park is adapted to accommodate or store at least one trailer. Each trailer is assigned a second unique identifier. The controller is adapted to be in first communication with at least one communication network having at least one participant. Actors provide their logic guidelines to the controller. The controller is also adapted to be in a second communication with the central location. The respective first and second unique identifiers for any of the freight containers stored in the freight container storage yard are relayed to the controller. The controller performs the determination when the controller receives logical criteria from the participants. The determination performed by the controller includes evaluating whether the first and / or second identifier can satisfy logical criteria. If the controller determines that there are freight containers and / or trailers that meet the logic criteria, the controller communicates the determination to the transportation resource. Certain routings may contain detailed instructions that transport resources need to follow to satisfy logical criteria.
