Embodiment Construction
[0025] The present application is directed to systems and methods for distinguishing normal myocardium from diffuse disease in non-ischemic cardiomyopathy, among others, using Tl mapping. Specifically, the systems and methods utilize differences in T1 values generated from the T1 map to differentiate between diseased and normal tissue. To achieve the above, the systems and methods utilize CMR T1 mapping using modified Look-Locker inversion recovery ( MOLLI) sequence. The exemplary method only requires a contrast agent in another embodiment. Rather, in another exemplary embodiment, virtually any other exact T1 mapping sequence may be used instead of MOLLI. Motion correction was performed on the acquired images prior to T1 map reconstruction. In the exemplary method, the MOLLI sequence generates 11 images that can be used for T1 map reconstruction. According to the exemplary methods described herein, Hierarchical Adaptive Local Affine Registration (HALAR) techniques may be...
