Maternity wear of the invention accommodates the changing shape of a woman's body during pregnancy, minimizing the need for maternity clothes. In one aspect of the invention, pants or a skirt are worn with the upper end unfastened so as to conform to the shape of the swelling torso in pregnancy, and an elastic band shaped similarly to a tube top is worn generally around the waist, so as to overlap the top of the unfastened pants or skirt and retain them on the body. A top, such as a blouse or shirt, can be worn with its tail end extending over the band. In another aspect of the invention, too-large maternity clothing is worn with the band garment engaged over the upper end. If desired the band garment can be folded over on itself, thus doubling its thickness.

This invention provides women's apparel having a unique and improved maternity and/or nursing breast support and enables the wearer to comfortably unsecure and secure a flap on a bra cup upon completion of nursing. The main inventive feature is a dynamic non-continuous or hanging bra support system made with a plurality of fabric members triangular in shape to allow a sizeable opening in each brassiere cup. The fabric members in each cup are joined at the upper end and create vertically oriented openings for maximum breast exposure that allow access to the breast and at the same time leave room for expansion of the breasts. The upper edges of the triangular cups are diagonally oriented, and the cups are attached only partially, at the lower portion to narrow regions of a stretchable band and/or laterally, to the side, thus providing flexibility, support and comfort for the wearer.

A nursing garment is formed as a nursing jacket or top that provides privacy to a nursing mother and entirely receives and covers a nursing baby. The nursing garment comprises a front panel, back panel, waist panel, and side portions. At least one elongated side placket is integrated within at least one of the side portions. The elongated side plackets extend substantially along an entire length of each side portion. At least one elongated slit is integrated within at least one of the elongated side plackets. Preferably, an elongated slit extends substantially along substantially the entire length of each side placket. The elongated slits are of a size so that an infant can pass completely through the slit and be entirely housed within the garment. Side plackets are of a depth sufficient to provide coverage to the infant and the mother, so that nursing is not visible.

A maternity garment, which provides mild support to shape a woman's body and to act as a suspender for bottoms such as pants, shorts, or skirts that may be ill fitting due to body changes as a result of pregnancy, wherein the preferred garment has at least one shoulder strap, a belly panel, a hip band, two side panels, and a back panel, and is made of high performance fabric with varying degrees of compression.

This invention is an undergarment in the form of a strapless camisole that attaches to the flaps of any top opening nursing bra just below the clasp and opens with the flaps of the bra, staying, attached, when the woman opens the flaps to access the breasts for nursing. This invention therefore allows the woman to wear non-nursing shirts over the invention that is attached to their bra and keeps their lower torso covered when they lift or open their outer shirt to breastfeed.

A nursing apron that covers an infant being breastfed to thereby afford privacy to the nursing mother, and that also provides at least partial support to the nursing infant. The apron is made from a piece of material having a top end, a bottom end, and opposite side edges, and is adapted to cover the chest area of a nursing mother, with the top end lying beneath the chin of the mother, the bottom end lying at about midsection of the mother, and the opposite side edges partially wrapping around the sides of the mother. A nursing garment for supporting the breasts of a user, and having an upper torso portion shaped to extend over the breasts and back of the user and a lower torso portion attached to said upper body portion and shaped to extend over the waist and at least a portion of said upper torso portion, wherein said lower torso portion has an openable flap to provide a nursing infant access to one or both breasts of the user. The openable flap has a first generally triangular portion and a second generally triangular portion which are foldable between a closed position and an open position, wherein in the closed position the breasts of the user are concealed, and wherein in the open position one or both breasts of the user are exposed. Each of the first and second generally triangular portions may be releasably attached to the upper torso portion using fastening means.

A labor and delivery outfit designed to provide function, comfort and dignity, comprises: a sleeveless, wrap shirt having an upper portion that includes a right nursing flap, and a left nursing flap, a first lower portion extending from the right nursing flap, a second lower portion extending from the left nursing flap, a back having a right strap, a left strap, and overlapping right rear lower portion and left rear lower portion defining an opening therebetween; a bra, preferably a built-in, supporting, nursing bra having a first section extending between the right strap and the first lower portion and including a right breast nursing cup, and having a second section extending between the left strap and the second lower portion and including a right breast nursing cup, and, a left breast nursing cup, releasable fasteners for fastening the right nursing flap to the right strap, thereby covering the right nursing cup, and releasable fasteners for fastening the left nursing flap to the left strap, thereby covering the left nursing cup; and, a wrap skirt having an elastic waist, a built-in pregnancy panel, and, a rear zipper. The nursing flaps of the shirt in closed position may form a V-neck. The back may be shaped in a V. A seam is provided between the upper portion and lower portions. Releasable fasteners are provided for fastening the rear lower portions to the upper portion of the shirt, thereby providing access to the spine.

The present invention relates to a nursing garment having front and rear portions. The front portion includes an inner layer positionable against the wearer's breasts. The inner layer has a first opening defined therein located proximal to the nipple of one of the wearer's breasts for providing access thereto. An outer layer having a second opening is superimposed on the inner layer. The first and second openings are alignable with each other to allow the nipple to be exposed. Also provided is a curtain member disposed between the inner and outer layers. The curtain member is accessible through the second opening and is moveable between a concealing position which obstructs access to the first opening through the second opening, and a revealing position which allows communication between the first and second openings to permit the nipple to be exposed for nursing.

In one embodiment, a nursing cover is constructed of a flexible cover body that is configured to cover a mother's front, particularly areas exposed while nursing a baby. For convenience of reference, the cover body can be described in terms of a top end, a bottom end and two sides. A track is coupled to the top end of the cover, and at least one clip is slidingly engaged with the track to permit the clip to slide along the track. In this way, not only does the cover provide privacy protection to a nursing mother, but the cover also includes a slidable clip that can serve a variety of functions.

Supportive garments, particularly maternity and post-maternity garments, are provided for support and promoting good posture of a wearer. The garment covers a wearer's torso and at least an upper portion of a wearer's thighs and includes a non-stretchable posterior panel positioned to extend transversely at least over an inter scapular upper back region of a wearer and longitudinally to a wearer's waistline, and connecting across a stretchable body portion that covers a lower torso and extends along a wearer's posterior sides to a shoulder region. An embodiment suitable as a maternity garment includes an abdominal portion having a more stretchable material than surrounding areas, whereas an abdominal portion in another embodiment suitable for post-maternity or slimming supportive wear is more compressive and incorporates cellulite-reducing fibers. A shoulder support portion extends laterally and upwardly from a lower portion of the posterior panel to the shoulder region.

A two panel convertible maternity coat that can be used by a woman before, after, and during pregnancy, a pregnancy panel, and a baby panel. Pregnancy is accommodated through the addition of the pregnancy panel between the front sides of the coat. The pregnancy panel is wider at the bottom and tapered toward the top. The two panel convertible maternity coat also can be used as a garment for covering both baby and mother, father, or other wearer though the addition of the baby panel between the front sides of the coat. The baby panel is shaped wider at the top and tapers down to a lower portion. Means are provided for readily fastening each panel separately to the coat so as to provide for ease in transitioning between the uses of the coat.

The present invention relates to a garment worn during different stages of pregnancy and different stages of postpartum body changes. A garment upper portion has a belly panel that is expansible to cover and fit over a growing abdomen during different stages of pregnancy, and a garment lower portion having a first torso encircling circumference that recedes downward to make way for expansion of the belly panel. The garment upper portion has a second torso encircling circumference to hold the garment up and in place over the torso.
