A high strength fastener for bone fractures. This fastener consists of two members, a male and female. The male member has external machine screw threads that screw into matching internal threads in the female member at a predictable torque so that the force of fixation exerted upon the bone can be approximated by the installer. Because of the effective length of the threads, this fastener is easily adjusted to the proper length without cutting. Both members have a smooth shoulder region proximal to the heads and this shoulder region presents a low-stress bearing surface to each cortical wall. Each member has a head that fits rigidly into an installation tool providing for ease of insertion and fastening in the patient with minimal invasion and little periosteal stripping. Each head has a semi-spherical face that articulates with matching washers and plates, thus allowing the washer to assume the plane of the surrounding bone therefore distributing the load over a greater area.

In addition, a method for generating a presentation of search results pertaining to a geographic area for display on a display screen, comprising: receiving a signal selecting a search result from the search results, the search result having a location within the geographic area; and, applying a lens to an original map image for the geographic area to produce the presentation, the lens having a focal region with a magnification for the location at least partially surrounded by a shoulder region where the magnification diminishes. Furthermore, a method for generating a presentation of a path from a first location to a second location in a geographic area for display on a display screen, comprising: displaying an original map image for the geographic area having an overlaid representation of the path; receiving a signal selecting a location on the original map image, wherein the location is limited to at least one of being on the representation of the path and being within a predetermined distance from the representation of the path; and, applying a lens to the original map image to produce the presentation, the lens having a focal region with a magnification for the location at least partially surrounded by a shoulder region where the magnification diminishes.

A drug-eluting stent contacts a wall of the blood vessel to maintain the patency of the vessel. The drug-eluting stent has a first end and a second end, the first end and the second end each including a tapered portion, wherein the drug-eluting stent is disposed over the balloon such that at least a portion of the first end and the second end of the balloon are covered by the tapered drug-eluting stent. A method for making the same is also disclosed herein.

A method for generating a presentation of a region-of-interest in an original image for display on a display surface, the method comprising: establishing a lens for the region-of-interest, the lens having a focal region with a magnification for the region-of-interest at least partially surrounded by a shoulder region across which the magnification varies to provide a continuous transition from the focal region to regions outside the lens; receiving a first signal for selecting the shoulder region; while receiving the first signal, receiving a second signal for selecting the focal region and for adjusting a position of the focal region relative to the shoulder region to define a degree and a direction of a folding of the focal region over the shoulder region for the lens; and, applying the lens to the original image to produce the presentation.

A conductor assembly and method for constructing an assembly of the type which, when conducting current, generates a magnetic field or which, in the presence of a changing magnetic field, induces a voltage. In one embodiment the method includes forming a structure comprising layers of material extending along a first aperture path. The structure includes multiple concentric layer surfaces. A channel is formed in each of the layers of the material and along each of the multiple surfaces. Conductive material is positioned in each channel to provide a spiral configuration. The surfaces of multiple ones of the layers are of tubular shape.
