[0015] overview

[0016] A user may have images (both still and video) stored in a variety of different locations. This may include the user's different devices (eg, mobile phone, tablet, desktop computer), different services (eg, social networking, photo sharing services), and the like. Therefore, it may be difficult for users to access these images in an efficient manner.

[0017] Image curation techniques are described. In one or more implementations, modules can be utilized to automatically curate (eg, identify and organize) images from a wide variety of different image sources. The module may, for example, be configured to generate criteria that may be used to automatically and without user intervention identify "interesting" images from the collection. Techniques may also be employed to select a subset of images from this pool of potentially interesting images for display. The modules may also be employed to support automatic placement of output images, such as in ...

Abstract

Image curation techniques are described. In one or more embodiments, one or more modules are launched for execution on a computing device. The criteria are generated automatically and without user intervention by execution of the one or more modules by the computing device in response to the actuation. Through execution of the one or more modules, images are curated using the generated criteria automatically and without user intervention, identifying the curated images from a plurality of different image sources associated with the user. Through execution of the one or more modules, the curated images are caused to be displayed by a display device of the computing device automatically and without user intervention.

Description

Background technique [0001] The amount of images that users capture and interact with in their daily lives is always growing. For example, in the case of adding a camera function to a mobile phone, a user can easily capture a large number of images such as still images and videos. Additionally, users may receive images captured on their mobile phones from a variety of other users. [0002] These images can be shared using a variety of different services, including email, photo sharing sites, social networking, and more. Thus, even a typical user may have a large number of images spread among a variety of different sources, which may make it difficult for the user to locate a particular image of interest. Contents of the invention [0003] Image curation techniques are described. In one or more embodiments, one or more modules are enabled for execution in a computing device. The criteria are generated automatically and without user intervention by execution of the one or ...
