Abstract

The reflection-type display device comprises a display panel, a light-guide board, a polarization light source and a polarization device. The light-guide board is located on the emergent side of the display panel. The polarization device is located on the emergent side of the light-guide board. The polarization direction of the polarization light source is perpendicular to the polarization direction of the polarization device. The polarization light source is used for providing irradiating light to the light-guide board. The light-guide board is used for splitting the irradiating light into first sub irradiating light and second sub irradiating light, leading out and transmitting the first sub irradiating light to the polarization device and leading out and transmitting the second sub irradiating light to the display panel. The display panel is used for reflecting the second sub irradiating light onto the polarization device. The polarization device is used for blocking the first sub irradiating light and blocking the second sub irradiating light or transmitting the second sub irradiating light. By means of the reflection-type display device and the display method, it is avoided that the first sub irradiating light is emitted out of a screen directly, the contrast ratio of the reflection-type display device is increased, and thus the display effect of images is improved.
