Problems solved by technology

[0011] The second problem can occur when the engine is off: the problem is that when the engine is stopped, oil is sucked into the pump, and when the engine is off, oil flows back into the power brakes
[0013] A third technical problem can occur when the engine with the pump installed is turned off and driven in reverse by the vehicle's drive system
This third problem can cause hydraulic blockage if oil pumping occurs as disclosed in the second problem, resulting in damage to the pump

Embodiment Construction

[0024] The invention is described in detail with reference to its application in a single vane pump as defined above. In order to understand the present invention more easily, Fig. 1 shows a schematic diagram of a conventional lubricating system for a rotary vacuum pump. In the example, a lubrication system for a single vane pump is described. The invention can also be used in any pump with vaned rotors.

[0025] Referring to FIG. 1 , the pump 10 includes a housing 40 defining a plenum 44 having an inner wall 42 , eg, having a substantially elliptical cross-section. The plenum 44 houses the rotor 12 which rotates substantially tangentially to the wall 42 in a known manner. The rotor has a diameter slot 46 in which the vane 22 is mounted, in which the vane 22 can slide radially. During clockwise rotation of the rotor 12 , the vanes and rotor divide the boost chamber 44 into the suction chamber 13 and the compression chamber 18 . Furthermore, a lubrication passage 11 connect...

Abstract

A lubrication system (200) for a rotary vacuum pump (300) connectable to a thermal engine comprises a suction duct (50) connecting the pump (300) to a power brake (16), and a connecting duct (23) connecting the inside of the engine with the suction duct (50) in order to generate, through the connecting duct (23), a flow of an air-oil mixture sucked from the inside of the engine. The invention also concerns a pump having a casing (40) which defines a pumping chamber (44) and a connecting duct (23) formed in the casing (40), and a lubrication method for such a pump.

Description

technical field [0001] This invention relates to rotary vacuum pumps, and more particularly to lubrication systems for rotary vacuum pumps. [0002] The invention is preferably, but not exclusively, applied in so-called single-vane pumps, the rotor of which comprises a single blade of fixed length, and the following description mainly refers to this preferred application. Background technique [0003] Single vane pumps are often used as vacuum pumps, for example in the automotive sector. It comprises a body defining a chamber, for example of substantially elliptical cross-section, in which a rotor is in tangential contact and rotates about an eccentric axis. The rotor has diametrical slots in which vanes are mounted and radially displaceable in the slots so that as the rotor rotates the vane tips slide in substantially contact with the inner wall of the chamber. The chamber is divided by the rotor and vanes into a suction chamber and a compression chamber, between which th...
