Abstract

Mitigation of disconnection events in vectoring based digital subscriber line DSL systems is provided. A method performed by a digital subscriber line access multiplexer, DSLAM, includes detecting a signal loss or disconnection event for a line in a set of vectored DSL lines, the signal loss or disconnection event causing a negative impact on a DSL system . The method further includes detecting a change in at least one downstream DS crosstalk coefficient of at least one line in the set of vectored DSL lines. The method further includes determining the magnitude of the change. The method further includes determining where the signal loss or disconnection event occurred by processing the precoding coefficients of the vectored set of DSL lines. The method further includes determining, based on the determined magnitude and where the signal loss or disconnection event occurred, an action to be performed by the DSLAM in order to mitigate the negative impact.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments presented herein relate to vectoring based Digital Subscriber Line DSL systems, and in particular to mitigation of disconnection events in such systems. Background technique [0002] In mobile communication networks, there is always the challenge of obtaining good performance and capacity for a given communication protocol, its parameters, and the physical environment in which the mobile communication network is deployed. [0003] Vectoring technology may be the core technology of the next generation of DSL (VDSL2; Very High Speed Digital Subscriber Line 2). It eliminates FEXT (Far End Cross Talk) between DSL lines and thus maximizes DSL system performance. Vectoring technology will play a role in FTTX (Fibre to the Node / Cabinet Curb / Building / Residence / Premises, etc.) DSL lines between CPEs (Customer Premises Equipment) to supply 100Mbps per subscriber. [0004] ITU-T (the Telecommunication Standardization Sector of the International T...
