The invention provides a writing trace demonstration method and apparatus applied to a writing brush. The method includes the following steps that: writing trace data in a process from a time point when a user presses a handwriting input device to a time point when the user lifts his or her hand is read; the read writing trace data are divided into a plurality of stroke segments, and main stroke segments and auxiliary stroke segments are determined from the plurality of stroke segments; the features of corresponding stroke segments and the directions of the main stroke segments are determined; samples corresponding to the strokes written by the user are determined according to a pre-built stroke sample library; and the strokes written by the user can be drawn on a screen according to sampling data of the samples and the traces of the written strokes. With the method and apparatus of the invention adopted, the traces approximate to the strokes written through the writing brush can be demonstrated for the user, and user experience can be improved.
