Embodiment Construction

[0067] In general and according to one embodiment, the present invention provides an antitheft assembly including a base and an alarm signaling device. The base is formed on the package used to package the item. The alarm signaling device is mounted to the base. The device includes a detector that interfaces with the item for operative communication with the item. A detector is provided for detecting an unauthorized distance between the device and the object. When an unauthorized distance is detected, the device signals an alarm indicating an attempted theft. Other embodiments include devices having sockets for receiving straps to be attached to packages.

Abstract

A theft prevention assembly comprises a base and an alarm signaling device in order to signal an alarm when an attempt is made to remove the device from a package packaging an article or to remove the article from the package. The base is formed on the package which packages the article. The alarm-signaling device is mounted to the base. The device comprises a detector interfacing with the article for operative communication therewith. The detector provides for detecting an unauthorized distance between the device and the article. When the unauthorized distance is detected the device signals an alarm indicative of attempted theft. The device may also include sockets for receiving straps to be strapped to the package.
