The marking method comprises: receiving a pressing operation signal of a user on a touch screen; according to the pressing operation signal, acquiring a touch area of a pressing operation and a force value of the pressing operation; and determining whether the force value reaches a preset threshold, and when the force value reaches the preset threshold, editing the content displayed in the touch area according to a preset rule. The present invention further constructs the terminal device. With implementation of the technical scheme provided by the present invention, when the user uses a reading-type application or an input-type application, if a part of the displayed content needs to be marked, the user can directly press the touch area that the user wants to mark on the touch screen without the need for triggering a corresponding editing control, and when pressing force is relatively large (greater than the preset threshold), the content in the touch area can be edited, so that the mode is easy to operate and user experience is good.
