The code scanning method comprises the steps of receiving a code scanning instruction inputted by a user; detecting the surrounding environment brightness through an optical sensor of a mobile terminal; comparing the surrounding environment brightness with a set threshold; turning on a flashlight through a controller of the mobile terminal when the surrounding environment brightness is less than the set threshold; and identifying a scanning range, and acquiring barcode information. According to the invention, light perception can be carried out automatically in code scanning of the mobile terminal, the flashlight is turned on automatically when the environment brightness is insufficient, and a user is not required to carry out manual operations on the flashlight, thereby facilitating the code scanning operation, and also improving the code scanning efficiency.
